KINGSTON, Jamaica – GraceKennedy Limited says it has spent just over J$83 million on educational initiatives in 2014, through its Grace and Staff Community Development and GraceKennedy Foundations. The figure represents a J$31m increase over 2013.
The company noted that J$28 million of that sum was invested in scholarships and bursaries at the University of the West Indies (UWI), University of Technology and the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, as well as among several secondary institutions.
Ten million of that amount was allocated to the funding of its two Chairs at the UWI in environmental management and management studies. The Foundation also provided grants to several schools as part of refurbishment or improvement projects, GraceKennedy said in a news release Tuesday.
